For Fit Sake Weightlifting Gloves

I am a girl.
I am an athlete.
I am feminine.
I am tough.

But I don't like it when my skin is.

I like to be soft and girly, but I also love to be toned and muscularly defined.
I believe that you can be both.

I want to have my cake and it eat it too. Literally.

I always wear gloves when I hit the weights at the gym. I've worn through quite a few pairs.
I am so thankful that I trashed my gloves and not my hands.

I've come to know that there are HUGE differences with weight-lifting gloves. Here are a few things to consider before you buy your next pair:

Are they easy to get on your hands?
Are they easy to get OFF your hands?
Are they affordable?
Are they cute?
Do they come in different sizes?
Are they the right size for you?
Are they easy to clean?
Are they durable?
Do they protect the callus-prone areas of your hands?
Are they going to snag your cute workout clothes?
Do they pinch your hands?
Do they grip?
Are they comfortable?

As you can see, there are more things to consider than "Are these workout gloves?"
I have dealt with a lot of these issues. Some of them are tolerable and some of them are downright aggravating. Don't assume the raging Hulk at the gym suffers from 'roid-rage. It's probably just his annoying gloves. Jkjk.

Most guys I know don't wear gloves at the gym because "gloves are for girls." Then again, most guys I know at the gym have grotesque hands. No way would they ever touch me with their deformed palms and fingers. If I ever go into cardiac arrest while working out, I hope somebody that wears gloves is the one performing CPR on me. Or else I might end up asphyxiating on my vomit when they bring me back from the dead. Ok, so this may be a slight exaggeration. This mainly pertains to the guys that do a lot of chin-ups or dead-lifts. This is for the guys that have raw and bloody hands that are constantly peeling off the dead remnants of their palms.

I love wearing gloves. They help me grip. I actually feel like it is easier to do chin-ups, pull-ups, dead-lifts, etc. when wearing gloves. Not because they take any of the effort away, but because I don't have to quit early because my hands are in pain.

For Fit Sake has created a weightlifting glove that is unlike any other that I have tried. They are only four-fingered. They do not wrap around your thumb. They do not cover your entire palm. And they only go up to the first joint in my fingers. They do look a little odd. And they definitely feel different.
But they work.

I like the fact that they don't cover my entire palm. It makes it so that my hands don't get nearly as hot as usual, which means less sweat. I also like that they don't go beyond the Proximal Inter-Phalangeal Joint. I have had gloves that cover this area and they feel very awkward. It makes it more difficult to get a good grip.

I wish they were a little tighter though. I like things snug and sure when I'm lifting something that weighs nearly as much as I do. I feel like I'm constantly having to readjust them. They bulge along the palm area when I make a fist. It could just be that my hands are very petite though.

The material is very breathable however. This is great because exercise gear tends to build up bacteria. I can throw mine in the wash and they turn out just fine. I don't put them in the dryer. I just let mine air-dry.

There is a honeycomb design that runs along each finger to help increase grip. It's not a ton though. As soon as you release your grip your gloves will too. Some gloves are covered in an excessive amount of grip material. This is not the case with these gloves.

If you're into Crossfit Training, rope climbing, weight-lifting, or bodybuilding then you could definitely benefit from these gloves. They will protect the delicate skin of your palms and prevent it from developing callouses or tearing. For Fit Sake's weightlifting gloves are a great alternative to taping. You have to replace them far less often; they are easier to apply; and they create less waste.

Love Stinks

Love stinks.

Robin Wagner knows this better than most people. A marriage that ended in divorce has left her as distrusting as her grumpy old cat, John Wayne. Lucky for her, she has her girlfriends that are always by her side and pushing her, if not dragging her, towards happiness. In an attempt to quiet her family and friends she attempts the internet dating scene. As always, love stinks. After weeding through the losers, perverts, and psychos she finally finds prospects and gives it a go. Though not before she runs into a friend from her past that has scars of his own.

It's a story full of comedic flare and a dash of romance. It's cheeky, witty, and surprising just like Robin. It will have you laughing, hurting, and swooning all in one. I loved the witty remarks. Even the serious moments were chalked full of repartee. I fell in love with the story as soon as I started reading.

I could relate to the main character in many ways. Here is a small excerpt from Robin's online dating profile for you to enjoy:
Favorite Food: I bet that’s like asking a mom which is her favorite kid. I totally love all kinds of food as long as it doesn’t have curry in it. Currently, I’m having a bad romance with cookie dough ice cream and boneless honey barbecue wings with ranch. But not at the same time. Shhh…they don’t know about each other.

Although I did get a little nervous. After reading the prologue and getting a couple of chapters into the book I thought I might have accidentally dipped into a XXX novel. I found relief when it never actually got into the details of her romances. There are many sexual mentions scattered about and so it is definitely an adult read. For those that are bothered by panty-dropping references this is probably not a book for you.

There is also a lot of cursing. I am usually bothered by the use of swear words. I think they are demeaning and lack purpose. Though, in this book they help to create the character. Robin is not a proper lady like her mother. She is bold, rough, and unapologetic. She knows who she is and what she wants. She is unwilling to change for anyone, especially a man. If cursing is too offensive to you then I would not recommend this book to you either.

But the story is great. I loved this novel by Paulette Oakes. It had me hooked immediately. I could not put it down. I actually kept my daughters up until 11pm just so I could finish it. It was that captivating! It is one of the best stories that I have read in a long time. Paulette is a truly talented writer.

I knew it was a good book because I was sad when it ended. Luckily, it's not completely over. It is part of the Love Me Right series. Love Hurts will be the next book. I cannot wait for it to be released so that I can continue reading and following the story. The cliffhanger was too much for me to bear.

If you're looking for your next addicting read then this is a great choice. I highly suggest this book to anyone that has ever been hurt by love or is just looking for a book that they can jump into, heart and all.

You can find it on Amazon HERE.
You can also check out her profile and other books that she has written HERE.

Hoo-Rag Bandanas

When you're working out does your hair ever just drive you completely BONKERS?

Mine does.

My bangs never stay back. They usually end up falling in my face. And I tend to workout pretty intensely. So after a while they become drenched in sweat and either stuck to my face or slapping me in the eyes. Grrr...

I have tried headband after headband. None of them stay in place. Even the ones with rubber backing slip and slide. I usually end up with a head full of metal trying to get them to stay in place. And then it still ends up shifting. Needless to say, sometimes I would prefer the annoyance of my bangs over the annoyance of a headband.

But a crafty little company called Hoo-Rag came up with a solution for this! Yes, you might be tempted to start throwing gang signs at me when you hear their name. No worries, I threw a few myself. Although I can't remember any real gang signs and my ASL is very limited, so I think I told someone I wanted an apple and I need to go potty.... Oh well. At least I looked cool doing it. Haha, as cool as a mom in sweatpants and a mom-bun can.

Anyways, they have made a tubular headband. By the way, that is an awesome word. Tubular..... Ya I know, I'm making myself cooler by the minute. Hahaha oh dear. Back to what I was saying, it's a tube that can be shaped into dozens of wearing styles. Here's a short clip they have made to demonstrate some of the ways..

Whether you're seeking sun protection or just a way to tame your hair this bandana has got you covered.
Literally.
Hahaha! Someone needs to stop me today. I apologize for my horrible humor. Sleepless nights have a tendency to make me quite weird.

When my family used to go camping, we went on some pretty hardcore trips. We would pack up our stuff and live off of only what four people could pack on two ATV's for a couple of days. That's including tents, cooking gear, gasoline, food, water, clothing, sleeping bags, etc. We would ride all day long. The trails were usually extremely dusty and made it very difficult to breathe. We resorted to wearing bandanas to help filter the air.

The only problem was that the knot was usually against the back of your head under the helmet. It really hurt after a while. But we preferred the pain over inhaling clouds of dirt. I really wish we would have had Hoo-Rags back then. It would've kept our lungs clearer and our necks out of the sun.

Hoo-Rags are perfect for those people that like to snowboard because it will protect you from getting sunburned off of the reflection from the snow, keep your ears warmer, and protect your lungs and throat from the cold air. That is if you were to wear it Balaclava style

People spending a ton of time out fishing on the lake would definitely benefit from the face-mask style. It protects the face and neck. It is also great for hiking, rock-hounding, or a paintball battle. It is rated up to 30 UPF which means you don't have to be a Redneck!

Although it is 100% polyester microfiber which helps wick moisture away from the skin, you don't have to be super sporty to benefit from a Hoo-Rag. I like to wear mine while gardening, sun-bathing (no skin cancer on my face please), and on those days I just don't feel like doing my hair.

If you know someone that is balding this is a great gift though. They can wear it so many different ways to protect themselves from the sun's harmful rays. And on that note, Father's Day is just around the corner. Don't forget to get gifts for those special men in your life!

They have a women's line with over 52 different styles! And they are SUPER CUTE! I took a poll with some of my friends and they chose Ka-Bloom! as their favorite. Since this is such an amazing product and a cute design we've decided to give one away to one lucky reader!

To enter the contest, just leave a comment down below letting me know:
1. which design is your favorite
2. which way you would wear it
3. and which social media group you shared my contest post on (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc,) using the hash-tag #hoorag

That's it!
Good luck Ladies and Gents!

Xtava Makeup Brushes

Let's start off by saying, "I am in no way a beauty pro."

I love makeup though! I love all the pretty palettes. I love the textures. I love the shimmer. I love the millions of colors. I love that you can make yourself feel better in a matter of strokes. I love that you can cover your imperfections and disguise your concerns. I love that you can literally change how the world sees you in a matter of minutes.

I am who I am and I love being Me, but there's something about makeovers that is just so much fun!
This is why I would rather be a girl than a boy any day. Yes, even though we have to pee sitting down.

I love that there are endless possibilities when it comes to styling your face. Sadly, I only use two of them. No makeup and neutral. I'm pretty boring if I do say so myself. I used to have pinks, browns, whites, purples, blacks, blues, reds, and even greens. Now it's just varying colors of brown and taupe. Wow! I am lame. In a world that you can express yourself any way you'd like, I've chosen brown?

I've never really felt comfortable when I've experimented. I usually end up feeling like a 5-year old wearing her mom's makeup. That or a dollar store hooker. I feel like I always end up looking like I'm trying too hard.

But there are girls that are out there that do it flawlessly. And they have even created makeup tutorials to help the rest of us. Bless their souls! They have helped me so much with just the basics.

This girl is my favorite!

The #1 most important thing that they have taught me is that you need brushes!

I have tried to use cheap brushes or the applicators that come with the grocery store makeup. But it is not the same! High quality brushes make a huge difference! And I finally own the best brushes I have ever used!

They are made by Xtava.

Every girl needs the basics. From experimenting with a bold smoky eye to mastering your signature "no makeup" look, this kit has all you need. This is your expert essentials kit. It provides you with the best of the basics - 1 Powder Brush, 1 Foundation Brush, 1 Kabuki Brush, 1 Eye Shadow Base Brush, 1 Eye Shader Brush, 1 Precision Eyebrow Definer Brush, and 1 Lip Brush.

The brushes are a strategic blend of synthetic and natural bristles. This helps to deliver a more enhanced coverage. The varied texture of natural fibers best attract and deposit powdered products, while smooth synthetic materials are utilized for the liquid brushes to ensure expert absorption and streak-free results. The handles are handcrafted from ultra-lightweight wood. This allows for optimal ease during application without compromising on flawless application.

The kit is accented by it's gorgeous clutch case for easy storage. It is soft, but sturdy. The canvas cover flap keeps your brushes clean and protected. The fitted brush slots keep your brushes perfectly in place. The zippered pocket is a great addition to store your daily essentials for quick touch-ups on the go. It is even cute enough that you can leave your purse at home for a night out on the town!

The Xtava Classic Essentials Kit is a must have for every beauty guru. Whether you are an expert seeking a new high-quality set of basics or a newbie just starting your first makeup collection, this kit is a must-have. The seven brushes included in this kit are the most versatile building blocks for any makeup collection.

I highly recommend this kit for everyone who uses makeup.
All of the brushes included in the kit are fabulous, but my absolute favorite is the foundation brush! The bristles are all so soft and compacted. They provide me with the most flawless coverage I have ever had with any of my foundations. This brush alone makes the kit worth it.

My second favorite is the eyebrow definer. Holy mackerel! This brush is heaven sent. It made doing my eyebrows so easy. And they look fantastic. Love it!

If your makeup routine is needing a little TLC, or it just feels like it's missing something then try this kit! It will make your morning so much better! You can find it on Amazon HERE.

ReflectX Mirror

"Don't drop the soap!"

Are you superstitious? If so, then you'll love this post.
It'll prevent you from being the unfortunate receiver of 7 years bad luck.

Have you ever tried using a mirror in the shower. There are many problems when it comes to seeing your reflection at bath time.

1. A smooth surface like a mirror becomes slick and hard to hold onto
2. If you drop a mirror it's probably going to shatter
3. If it shatters and you're naked and barefoot you're in BIG trouble
4. Mirrors fog up in a warm and moist environment
5.Trying to hold a mirror, razor, shaving cream, or any other beauty products can be quite the dangerous juggling act
6. Suction cups usually give out after a while, and usually at inopportune moments
etc.

You get the point. It's frustrating.

But Mirror On a Rope has found a great solution for this. They have designed a mirror on a rope that is specific for bathrooms.

I love the rope feature because you can hang it practically anywhere. It can be hung from the shower head, window latch, curtain rod, off the shampoo bottle, etc. And it is adjustable. So whether you are tall or short it will work work for you. It's a nice sturdy rope that is going to last for quite some time. I just wish they had chosen a material that wasn't absorbent. I think plastic would have been a better option to prevent mold growth. But you can easily wash the rope. Just remove it from the mirror and throw it in the wash.

The mirror is about 1/8" thick. A lot of shower mirrors are so thin that they bend and curve which creates the fun-house mirror effect. This mirror is thick and sturdy though.
And the mirror is crystal clear. It is even better than the mirror above my sink. I've been half-tempted to start using it to apply my makeup. lol.
Plus, most mirrors have a cheap plastic on the back that peels over time. The back of the ReflectX Mirror is covered with the most advanced boat and race car wrap material available. This wrap material can withstand conditions such as 150+ MPH winds mixed with water and road debris. So, it can definitely withstand a shampoo and shave in your shower.

It comes with a little hook that you can attach to your shower wall and hang the mirror off of with the hole in the corner. This will keep the mirror steady so that you can see your reflection clearly without it tilting or swiveling. I chose to attach the hook the mirror itself though because I can hang it off my daughter's toy caddy. If you hang the mirror off of the hook then you don't need to use the rope.

Best of all, the mirror does not fog up. I don't know how they did this, But it is pretty ingenious. In order to make sure it doesn't fog up you simply hold the mirror near the warm water for about 10 seconds.

The mirror also comes with a little velour bag. It is perfect! It is just the right size for the mirror and comes with a drawstring to easily close the bag. This is great for those men that travel a lot and like to shave in the shower. If you use the mirror by the hook most of the time then you can just store the rope in the bag so that you have a way to hang it when you are away. The mirror is 5" x 4" and so it is small enough to easily toss in a suitcase and large enough for daily use.

I don't shave my face. Although I know a lot of girls that do it for exfoliating purposes. However, it is quite convenient when trying to remove makeup or applying a face mask. Plus, who doesn't like to see themselves look like George Washington with the suds??... maybe that's just me?

Either way, it's a great product. And it's a great idea for a Father's Day gift which is right around the corner. Don't forget!

If you want to check them out for yourself and pick your own color, you can find them on Amazon HERE.

Bubble Therapy

We LOVE bubbles at our house!

I have bought many brands of Bubble Bath and they're always fun while they last. That's why I was so excited to try the 3-in-1 Bubble Bath, Shampoo, and Body Wash by Sweetsation Therapy.

I thought all bubble baths were pretty much the same. I didn't think that there would be much of a difference except for maybe the scent. I was wrong though.

They're not joking when they call it Bubble Therapy.

It smells absolutely delicious. My nose was in heaven as I filled the tub. I nearly crawled into the bubbly goodness myself.

And talk about bubbles. Whoa! Bubble bath soaps I have tried in the past create bubbles, but not a ton. I usually end up pouring a good portion of the bottle in the tub and it still doesn't cover all the water with bubbles. This stuff was amazing! I just put about 1-2 tablespoons of the soap into the running water and BAM! bubbles galore! It was like a sudsy bomb went off in the tub. They were so thick. My daughter literally squealed with delight when she saw it.

She loved playing in the bubbles! She even made castles for her Elsa Princess with them.

Can your soap do that?

The other problem that I have noticed with other brands is that the bubbles don't last. You may have a ton to start off with, but by the end of your bath you can't even tell there were ever suds in your water. They disappear way too quickly. Sweetsation Therapy has created some sort of magic though because their bubbles last longer than you do. I let my daughter take a 30 minute bath and there were still oodles of bubbles when I pulled her out.

If you've been reading my blog, then you know that my daughter has sensitive skin. I always get kind of nervous when using new products on her because I never know how her skin will tolerate it. This Bubble Therapy is pure and natural though.

It is made with soothing ingredients like Calendula, Chamomile, and Oat. Oat is gentle enough to clean baby skin and hair without causing irritation. It is also used to help relieve Eczema. Calendula moisturizes and soothes dry skin. Aloe Barbadenis leaf juice is one of my favorite ingredients to see listed because it has a wide array of healthy benefits. And Chamomile and Lavender are great at calming and relaxing. Here is the ingredient list for those that want to see more:

Ingredients:  Purified water, Decyl Glucoside, Glycerin, Organic Aloe Barbadenis leaf juice, Panthenol, Soy Protein, Allantoin, Organic Chamomile extract, Organic Arnica extract, Organic Calendula extract, Organic Lavender extract, Organic White Tea extract, Oat extract, Lactobacillus Ferment (leucidal), Litsea Essential oil, Vanilla Absolute.

I truly believe that bubble baths are good for the soul.
Especially when they are made with nourishing and healing ingredients. Stress is absolutely toxic to the body and taking time to relax is vitally important. Stress can be beneficial at times, but not when it is constant. It's good for you to take some time off and enjoy yourself. The next time you get a spare minute you should treat yourself to a nice, warm, and soothing bubble bath.
Or you can act like a kid again and truly enjoy yourself with a mohawk and an imaginary microphone. Bueller?

Sshhh... I won't tell anyone.

And if you want to try Sweetsation Therapy's 3-in-1 Bubble Bath, Shampoo, and Body Wash you can find it on their site HERE. They have tons of different products that I bet would be just as amazing as their Bubble Bath. Everything from sunscreen to stretch mark caviar.
And you can like their Facebook page to receive discounts, promotions, and giveaways.

Even though I received this product complimentary in return for my honest and unbiased review, I absolutely do love it and would purchase it myself!

What is a Derma Roller?

Honestly, it looks like a torture device from the Dark Ages.

It can be quite scary when you take it out of the package.
It is literally a bunch of needles on a rolling device.

But it's not as bad as it looks or sounds.

Dermarolling is meant to increase the natural beauty of the skin. By puncturing the skin it is said to create channels for nourishment to reach deeper into the skin. This is supposed to help topical treatments more thoroughly penetrate the Dermis.

The needles create micrososcopic punctures in the skin. This initiates the body's natural healing process. Due to the size of the wounds, they heal very quickly. As your body heals it stimulates the production of normal woven collagen rather than scar tissue.

Normally, you have to make an appointment with a specialist to have this procedure done. Puruskin has created a Derma Roller that you can purchase online and use at home. Be sure to thoroughly read their instructions and watch their videos before use. Even if you think you know how to use a Derma Roller please use caution as to not irritate the skin. It must be used properly.

It is important to test it on a body part other than your face until you get used to it. And you definitely do not want to overuse this product. Irritating the skin can cause other skin issues. You also want to be sure that your entire work space is clean. Be sure to clean your roller with Rubbing Alcohol to prevent infecting the skin. It is also highly recommended to apply oils after use to dramatically increase the healing process and protect the skin. Some people also use a numbing cream prior to use or they apply ice to temporarily desensitize the skin.

Dermarolling is meant to help diminish the appearance of scars, pigmentation, deep-set and fine-line wrinkles, acne scars, cellulite, large pores, and stretch marks.
These are not going to be healed after one use though. As with most beauty regimens, best results are seen after multiple uses.

Initially, you may see a little blood and redness of the skin. It will almost look like a light sunburn. The body's natural defense is to increase the blood flow and so your skin will also seem slightly puffy. You do not want to spend time in the sun after rolling the skin. It's also a good idea to avoid using makeup after use. If you have an important meeting, job interview, or photo session then I suggest to postpone using your Derma Roller.

My face is extremely sensitive and I usually have active acne and/or broken skin and so I do not like to use the roller on my face. I prefer to use it on my thighs where I have stretch marks. Plus, I am training for a half marathon right now and so I am spending a ton of time outside and sweating and so derma-rolling my face is not ideal right now.

I like it so far. I am hoping to see more dramatic results after a couple months of usage. I will let you know how it works out in the long-run.

If you're going to purchase a Derma Roller for your personal use at home then I highly recommend the 3-in-1 Total Body Derma Roller by Puruskin. It is quite affordable compared to other options. Plus, it is great quality. If you seek treatment by a professional then you are looking at hundreds of dollars. And other derma rollers found online are expensive and only come with one size of needle. You need needles of various lengths for different problems and different areas of the body.

I found this image here.

The 3-in-1 Total Body Derm Roller comes with three different needle sizes. The Puruskin roller comes with a 0.5 mm, 1.0 mm, and a 1.5 mm head. This helps to meet all of the needs listed above. With one product you have the ability to treat everything from hair regrowth to deep stretch marks. It's always better when you get the most for your money.

I was given this product in return for an honest and unbiased review. I have enjoyed using this product and have tested its durability. I believe that this is a quality product. Give it a try and see what you think!

If you want to see the one that I used then you can find it on Amazon HERE.
