What is a Derma Roller?

Honestly, it looks like a torture device from the Dark Ages.

It can be quite scary when you take it out of the package.
It is literally a bunch of needles on a rolling device.

But it's not as bad as it looks or sounds.

Dermarolling is meant to increase the natural beauty of the skin. By puncturing the skin it is said to create channels for nourishment to reach deeper into the skin. This is supposed to help topical treatments more thoroughly penetrate the Dermis.

The needles create micrososcopic punctures in the skin. This initiates the body's natural healing process. Due to the size of the wounds, they heal very quickly. As your body heals it stimulates the production of normal woven collagen rather than scar tissue.

Normally, you have to make an appointment with a specialist to have this procedure done. Puruskin has created a Derma Roller that you can purchase online and use at home. Be sure to thoroughly read their instructions and watch their videos before use. Even if you think you know how to use a Derma Roller please use caution as to not irritate the skin. It must be used properly.

It is important to test it on a body part other than your face until you get used to it. And you definitely do not want to overuse this product. Irritating the skin can cause other skin issues. You also want to be sure that your entire work space is clean. Be sure to clean your roller with Rubbing Alcohol to prevent infecting the skin. It is also highly recommended to apply oils after use to dramatically increase the healing process and protect the skin. Some people also use a numbing cream prior to use or they apply ice to temporarily desensitize the skin.

Dermarolling is meant to help diminish the appearance of scars, pigmentation, deep-set and fine-line wrinkles, acne scars, cellulite, large pores, and stretch marks.
These are not going to be healed after one use though. As with most beauty regimens, best results are seen after multiple uses.

Initially, you may see a little blood and redness of the skin. It will almost look like a light sunburn. The body's natural defense is to increase the blood flow and so your skin will also seem slightly puffy. You do not want to spend time in the sun after rolling the skin. It's also a good idea to avoid using makeup after use. If you have an important meeting, job interview, or photo session then I suggest to postpone using your Derma Roller.

My face is extremely sensitive and I usually have active acne and/or broken skin and so I do not like to use the roller on my face. I prefer to use it on my thighs where I have stretch marks. Plus, I am training for a half marathon right now and so I am spending a ton of time outside and sweating and so derma-rolling my face is not ideal right now.

I like it so far. I am hoping to see more dramatic results after a couple months of usage. I will let you know how it works out in the long-run.

If you're going to purchase a Derma Roller for your personal use at home then I highly recommend the 3-in-1 Total Body Derma Roller by Puruskin. It is quite affordable compared to other options. Plus, it is great quality. If you seek treatment by a professional then you are looking at hundreds of dollars. And other derma rollers found online are expensive and only come with one size of needle. You need needles of various lengths for different problems and different areas of the body.

I found this image here.

The 3-in-1 Total Body Derm Roller comes with three different needle sizes. The Puruskin roller comes with a 0.5 mm, 1.0 mm, and a 1.5 mm head. This helps to meet all of the needs listed above. With one product you have the ability to treat everything from hair regrowth to deep stretch marks. It's always better when you get the most for your money.

I was given this product in return for an honest and unbiased review. I have enjoyed using this product and have tested its durability. I believe that this is a quality product. Give it a try and see what you think!

If you want to see the one that I used then you can find it on Amazon HERE.
